Name and Inventory
Pick a Name
Pick a stylish name you’d enjoy. There is no specific naming convention, but a fanciful name in style during the Victorian era or the first Great War would work well enough. Some examples included below.
- Bartholomew, Fitzgerald, Constantine, Ephraim, Owen, Elliot, Franklin, Roland, Oliver, Irving, Herman, Prudence, Constance, Felicity, Abigail, Stella, Margaret, Helena, Alice, Ira, Maggie, Rita, Vivian
Pick out a Stylish Inventory
There are three kinds of items. Major, Minor, and Trivial Items.
Minor items are kits of knick knacks, special clothing, spare weapons, and tools. Trivial items like packs of cigarettes, daily clothes, and pocket change are assumed to be carried by the characters already.
A starting character gets 2 Minor Item kits and can carry up to 2 kits with them wherever they go. They also get 1 Major Item and 100 dollars in pocket money.
Pick 2 Kits from the list below:
- Traveler's Rucksack - Dried Rations, waxed trench coat, bedding, flint and steel, a knife, fishing tackle, compass, spyglass, hatchet, and a deck of cards.
- Explorer's Harness- an oil lantern, harness, rope, pitons, grappling hooks, and chalk.
- Thief's Kit - lock picks, dark clothing, forgery tools, wedges, crowbar, pair of daggers, and a holdout pistol
- Soldier's Weapon Duffel- Ammunition, gun-cleaning tools, holsters, a six shooter, trench knife, a carbine, and dice.
- Hunter's Satchel - Skinning knife, camouflaged clothing, large and small game traps, and a Hunting rifle.

- High Fashion Steamtrunk - A steam trunk that carries fashionable and fancy clothes for all manner of extravagant occasions for two people.
- Winter Gear - Heavy, insulated gear for moving around in the extreme cold, snow shoes, and snowblind goggles.
- Performance Bindle - Paints, make up, simple instruments, megaphone, and colorful costumes for four people.
- Howler Trappings - Face paints, furs, Bone luck charms, whetstone, daggers, a spear, and a sword.

Create 1 major item:
All major items have Personality and can confer a bonus draw.
- The Bonus of a Major Item applies to a specific action, like Attacks or Repairs.
- Personality is a one or two sentence description that gives the object personal context and explains why it is special
Some examples are below.
Ol’ Ghost Rattler (Six-shooter) - Bonus draw to attacks.
Personality - a pale steel revolver that sounds like a rattlesnake when the cylinder is spun. Used to belong to your father, the old Sheriff of Oxbarrow.
Patch's Trusty Toolkit - Bonus draw to repairing.
Personality - A beat up doctor’s bag with all manner of tools and trade manuals inside. Word is that Patch was a mechanic in the last war and uses these beat up tools because that’s what he served with.
Starting characters begin the game with 100 dollars in pocket money.
For the sake of brevity, the Judge may charge characters arbitrary amounts of money for goods and services. There is no inventory or set prices in the game world and they are encouraged to use familiar prices for things in the real world where it makes sense.
TRIVIAL ITEMS
When an item is too unimportant to be considered useful, but still adds to the narrative, they are considered Trivial Items. Things, like a pack of cigarettes, a deck of cards, toothpicks, or goggles are all Trivial Items. They can be recorded and kept for panache and style without penalty.
